City or Area Director

 

 

 

Objective:

 

To provide pastoral care, leadership, accountability, mobilization, and vision to ISI field staff and volunteers in a specific city or in a specific geographic area encompassing more than one city and a minimum of 10,000 international students. 

 

Reports to:

 

County, Area, or Regional Field Director or President in the absence of a Regional Field Director

 

Spiritual Qualifications

  • Person of prayer
  • Teachable spirit
  • Person of spiritual maturity and committed to personal spiritual growth
  • Adherence to the Statement of Faith, Mission and Vision Statement, and Moral Conduct Policy

Educational/Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor degree, prefer a Master degree
  • Minimum of three years of work experience that encompasses management and leadership in the public sector or in a ministry
  • Demonstrated work experience in administrative skills of project management and strategic planning will be given preference, as will prior ministry experience with ISI or another international student ministry
  • Ordination or commissioning prior to or as soon as possible after assuming this position is highly recommended

Responsibilities

 

1.   Responsible for ensuring implementation of the ISI national strategic plan in his/her area and for developing a complementary local plan to reach all international students in the city or area, implement, and complete it.

 

2.   Build a staff team and lead it. This includes helping with recruitment and involvement in all staff development and personnel issues in his/her area, under the oversight of their supervisor and home office.

 

3.   Raise city or area funding with the assistance of the Development Council.

 

4.    Image ISI to the community and churches—“tell the story.”

 

5.   Develop procedures, systems, and resources to meet critical day-to-day operational needs.

 

6.   Ensures timely responsiveness by local staff to Home Office requests for reports and statistical information.

 

7.   Oversees the management of a campus ministry office and campus ministry staff in the absence of a local leadership.

 

8.   ISI authorizes staff to perform various ministry functions including, but not limited to, leading Bible studies, praying, leading ICFs, planning, directing, and/or supervising the ministry activities of others, and planning and developing the content of religious activities or other events and activities with students and other ISI participants. When appropriate staff may preach and teach the Word of God and perform sacerdotal duties, such as officiating for baptisms, weddings, funerals, and the administering of Holy Communion.

 

9.  Other duties as assigned.
