About us
Ed and Margreet van Ouwerkerk In 2002 we came from our home country The Netherlands to the United States. Ed worked as a scientist in agricultural engineering research at Iowa State University, until he retired in June 2010. All those years we have been involved in international student ministry, from 2007 as representatives of ISI. In September 2010 both Ed and Margreet have been accepted by ISI to become fulltime campus staff. In the past we have been volunteers in Christian ministry to refugees in The Netherlands, mainly reaching out to Africans. We speak four languages (Dutch, English, German and French) and are excited to add one more language, Chinese, which is not easy to learn! Most of the students that we currently reach out to are from mainland China. We have two adult children, Isabelle and Otto, and one grandson Loek, all living in The Netherlands. Our home church, Baptist Church "Op Doortocht" in Ede (Netherlands), partly supports us and has sent us as missionary workers to Ames (IA). We are also members of our local American home church, First Evangelical Free Church of Ames.
