16 Ways To Help International Students
1) Conversation Partner – meet for one hour every two weeks for three months. 2) Friendship Partner– get together once a month for a semester. 3) Professional Mentor – mentor a student who is studying in your field of expertise. 4) Long-term Homestay – rent a room in your home to an international student. 5) Summer Homestay – provide a room to an exchange student for four weeks during summer. 6) Temporary Homestay – host a newly-arrived student for several days. 7) Airport Pick-up – go to LAX or another local airport and pick up a newly-arrived student. 8) Host a Holiday or Welcome Party – invite several students into your home. 9) Food Provider – prepare or purchase food for holiday or welcome parties. 10) ISI Prayer Team – receive periodic email prayer updates. 11) Church Coordinator – give leadership to others helping students. 12) Team Member - International student support team member 13) ESL Teacher – teach English to small group of international students. 14) Area Service Coordinator – work 10-20 hours per week coordinating services offered to students. 15) Mobilizer – recruit and train volunteers to help international students. 16) Give Financially – so that activities can be provided.
