My Involvement with ISI
I began volunteering with international student ministry when I moved to the Bloomington-Normal area in the winter of 2006 to begin pursing my Master’s in Counseling at Lincoln Christian Seminary. At the time, I was also praying over what ministries God was calling me to. During my first semester of school, I took a multicultural counseling class and did a project for Eastview Christian Church on how they could be more involved with international student ministry. After presenting my project to the class, my class unanimously voted I should go carry out this project at my church. After a summer's rest, I felt God nudging me to invest more time using my ministry and leadership gifts and talents for Him and try to carry out my project. I decided to pursue a part-time internship with International Students Incorporated and work with the other ISI staff, John and Linda Berger. Being in grad school myself, I already have an immediate connection with the students! It took over a year to get signed with the organization ISI and raise funds, but I am overjoyed to say God has provided over $1,000 a month of funding for salary and ministry expenses! I am happy to be used by God to recruit and train more people to be involved with our ministry, build relationships with students, and use my administrative gifts for Him. We are excited for what the future holds!
