Yosemite Homestay Weekend May 15-17 2009

$40 for transportation in private car

SCHEDULE
FRIDAY May 15
2 p.m. leave Santa Cruz, fast-food dinner on way
7 p.m.arrive Mariposa Park-n-Ride., stay at host family homes

SATURDAY May 16
7:30 a.m. meet Mariposa Park-n-Ride. hiking groups assigned. Leave to go to park in color coded hiking groups. Everyone parks in Curry Village apple orchard.

9 a.m. Yosemite valley, options for day:

Hiking Groups (Must pick one by Friday night):

1. Yosemite Valley Tour – Easy tour of Yosemite Lower Falls Trail, Visitor Center, Happy Isles, etc.

2. Vernal Falls Tour – Moderate tour of Vernal Falls, 3 miles, 300 ft elevation gain, and Yosemite Lower Falls Trail. Need light raincoat because we will be hiking very close to a waterfall and you will be drenched!

3. Panorama Trail Tour – Strenuous trail must be in top physical condition. 8.5 miles, mostly UPHILL 3200 ft elevation gain. Need light raincoat because we will be hiking very close to a waterfall and you will be drenched!

• 3:30 pm – All cars drive to Glacier Point
• 5:30 pm – All cars drive to Round Table Pizza in Oakhurst
• 6:30-7:30 pm – Eat dinner at Round Table Pizza
• Saturday, 8 pm - Students arrive at Mariposa Park-n-Ride spend night with host families

Bring For Hiking:
• Walking/running shoes, or hiking boots
• Hat, bandana to protect against sunburn
• small Backpack to carry your belongings
• Sunscreen
• Water bottle(s)

10 a.m.? visit church with host families
lunch together at church
1 p.m. drive home
5/6 p.m. arrive Santa Cruz
