A short God story from ISI Monterey Staff John Steers
Last January, I had the blessed pleasure to befriend and assist a Chinese family as they arrived to study in Monterey. The husband was here as a doctoral professor to do research so he could write & publish for the sake of his university. While here, his wife, also a professor, took classes at MIIS as well as assisted their teenage daughter in high-school.
After joining us in our trip to Sonora last February, they spoke of being blessed by a family pouring out love to complete strangers, and then of experiencing a believers worship service for the first time.
But, after Sonora, the mom also decided to visit our exploratory Bible study tailored for non-believing internationals. Then she started bringing her teenage daughter. Then the husband asked for personal time with me to discuss the Bible -- very interesting, even as a quick but in-depth look at Ecclesiastes absolutely exposed the academic pursuit of knowledge that brought him here to begin with.
Finally, his short time ended and he had to go back, but his wife and daughter stayed. This last month, they too returned home, but not before she asked Jesus into her heart, and requested more materials to take back and share with her family.
And, this was all because they first experienced Christ in and through Sonora Bible Church.
