Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent Season. On this day, we examine our hearts and recognize that we “cannot make it on our own.” We look to God for help. Many churches use ashes during Ash Wednesday worship as part of a rite called the Imposition of Ashes to the forehead of each worshipper. This mark can be a powerful reminder of our dependence on God for forgiveness and salvation.
