I'm Xing Xing. I went to Yosemity with Peggy last year.
We arrived at our host family a little bit late and they still waited for us. He is a very nice gentleman and has lots of stories in his life which are very interesting. His friend also told us a lot about Yosemity which is very helpful. Their hospitality really impressed me during the two days we stay here. The last day we met lots of down-to-earth people in the church. They are all awesome. Plus, Yosemity is one of the most beautiful spot in the world I've ever been. So it was a fantastic experience for me.

1-2:30 p.m. pickups @ UCSC and nearby (Kelly & Chanaan, and Peri can leave after 3 pm.)

Saturday, May 22

7:30 a.m. drive to Yosemite
9 a.m meet others in Yosemite Valley

1.Hike Vernal Falls 3 miles up & down (3 hours?)
2.Hike Vernal and Nevada Falls 6 miles up and down (6 hours?)
3.hike bottom of Vernal Falls, 1 mile? Sightsee /drive around valley floor
5:30 p.m. drive to Yosemite lodge for dinner $10-15,
8 p.m. return to Mr. Carlson’s home
Sunday, May 23
cook Breakfast at Carlson’s home,
10:15 -11:30 a.m. Visit Mr. Carlson’s Church, Mountain Christian Center www.mccoakhurst.org (if you don’t want to do this, let me know, you can wait outside)
12:30 lunch at New Life Center Church with big ISI group,
2 p.m. drive home
6 p.m. arrive Santa Cruz
HOUSING: We will stay at the home of Mr. Ken Carlson, a wonderful older man with a big house that can sleep at least 20 or more if some sleep on the floor.
I’ll arrange rooms ahead of time. He has beds for about 18 people, so some of us can sleep on the floor or couches.

TRANSPORTATION: Looks like we have 3 drivers so far but may need to rent a car or 2. All costs will be divided equally among guests
I am still looking for more drivers, Let me know if any of you have a car and are experienced at driving., about 4 hours to Mr. Carlson’s home, then 1 hour each way to Yosemite and back Saturday, home Sunday. Drivers should be paid for gas expenses by passengers
COST: I will charge you only what we need to cover transportation and food. (Saturday=Sunday 3 meals(at this point my guess is around $50-60 for transportation, and $20 for food = $70-80?
FOOD: We will buy and bring our own food for the trip Sat & Sunday breakfasts, Saturday bag lunches, and everyone can help with the cooking.
Let me know if you want to help with planning food. We can either buy it at Oakdale or bring with us
BRING: Small gift for host, hiking shoes (not sandals/flip flops. Water bottle, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen. Light jacket (weather may be cold or hot)
