about ISI staff Peggy Pollard
Peggy & Bob, sons Luke Nelson, Bruin, December 2008. join my FACEBOOK page on the "links" page How did I get into this ISI gig, you ask?? It's a long story, but here's the short version: In 1984 I was an English tutor for 4 visiting professors from China at UC Berkeley, matched through a friendship program at 1st Pres. Church Berkeley. I'm still in contact with 3 of their families, who have done awesome things in China in government and science! Bob and I were married 1987, wedding theme "Servants to the Nations." We attempted medical mission projects in Mexico, China and Paraguay. moved to Santa Cruz 1992, joined ISI Santa Cruz as Friendship Partners, under Kert & Lillie Hultgren. I've been campus staff for ISI in Santa Cruz since March 2001 Why do I keep doing it? Just crazy I guess. Crazy for friendships with the BEST people in the world that God has brought right here to Santa Cruz...kind of like an Academic Olympics, and I'm privileged to be host organizer. My Other Interests: teaching Waltz and other ballroom dance, folk dance, ballet, bike riding all over Santa Cruz, Bollywood movies, protesting off-leash dogs, jogging with friends, reading news & novels, surfing Cowell's Cove on a rare hot day, and enjoying the cuisine of any friend who wants to cook for me.
