Thank you for your interest in helping international students at UM and EMU. Every Fall our urgent need is for people to participate in our Shopping Day or Lake Picnic. Throughout the year ISI has opportunities for English conversation partners, Bible tutors or for those who want to invite an international student/scholar/spouse to their home for dinner. Other group ISI activites often require food, drivers, photographers, Kids Club workers or other help. Prayer partners and helpers in the office are other ways you can serve. Please contact me for more info regarding any area of service.
Monthly Dinners every third Friday at 7 P.M. We meet at the Christian Reformed Church (1717 Broadway, Ann Arbor, MI 48105). Bring food, if you like, but what is most needed are friendly people to talk to the internationals around the dinner tables. There will be 2 short culture presentations and more talking before it ends at 9 P.M. A great place to bring your international friend or to meet one. Call 1-2 of the students to invite them back the next month. The focus is on friendship building.
Home Bible study groups started Friday, September 2nd. Assist in one of the 4 current groups by bring students and keeping in touch. Personal Bible tutors are also needed. Meet in your home or theirs or on campus at the time you are both available. English tutors are need for our October Monday night classes or for private tutoring weekly. No experience needed. As always, we are looking for those with an open heart who will invite an international student or researcher to their home and consider pursuing a year long friendship commitment.
In addition, if you would like to recieve quarterly prayer letters regarding Larry and Lucy's ministry or monthly volunteer newsletters with valuable tips and encouragement for your ministry to internationals, please sign up below. Make sure the appropriate newsletter option boxes are checked in your profile.

Testimony from a UM student volunteer:
I really enjoy getting to know International students! I'm a busy student, but it doesn't take much time to befriend a International classmate, meet with a conversation partner or lead an already prepared Bible study once a week and the blessings are incredible! God has given me an opportunity to talk about Him with each friendship I have had with an international student. Their hearts seem to be more open than the hearts of those who've grown up in our culture that is still influenced by Christianity. Consider using an hour or two of your week to invest in the life of an international student. God can and will use you!
