INTERNATIONAL STUDENT
WIVES PROGRAM

We are looking for wome to help with our new International Student's Wives Program.  Many international students are married men who bring their wives and children to the US during their studies.

If the wives are not students, they often feel lonely and isolated. Perhaps in their home countries they had access to public transportation which allowed them to do all their shopping independently.

Few U.S. campuses or cities have adequate mass transit. Another potential problem is that their command of English is not good, and they get confused or embarrassed by intolerant salespeople.

An International Student Wives Program would meet regularly- biweekly, to help international student wives develop friendships, practice English, get practical help adjusting to U.S. shopping, cooking, medical care and other care provider systems.

This group could also teach crafts, go on trips, and provide opportunities for wives to learn about US culture, and the values that are important to us.

Please contact Carol Douglass or fill out an American Interest Form if you are interested in volunteering for this important program.
