Since the events of 2001, 90% of the international students and scholars who are coming here are sent back to their home countries upon completion of their studies. This is particularly true for those nations most hostile toward the gospel when in their home culture.
Although 80% of the world's population now lives in countries that don't allow formal Christian missions, new statistics are showing that these came countries who forbid missionaries are those sending their people here in large numbers. The majority of international students and scholars around the world continue to be here in the U.S. - over 700,000 according to recent statistics.
Over 60% of these students and scholars are coming from the very countries that forbid foreign missionaries. We have a tremendous opportunity to share Christ's love and gospel with these students and then send them back to their own countries with new openness toward Christianity and with new faith they can take back to their own people. We are Christ's ambassadors to them, and they are Christ's ambassadors to many more of their own people.
These significant impacts on the future leaders of the world who are studying and researching here can transform the nations into worshippers through the message of the gospel. The Christian community must mobilize to reach these students during this unique window of opportunity, and helping them to do this is the role to which God has called me.
