The World at Our Door Food, Friends and Fruit At Thanksgiving Thanksgiving is an exciting time of year for international student ministry. It is a truly “American” holiday; one that allows us to share not only our most treasured holiday traditions (like football and shopping), but also the reasons we give thanks to our loving, faithful God. This past Saturday, we saw God’s hand at work in a myriad of ways at our Thanksgiving Outreach. First, there was the food. We had about 15 volunteers from six different churches bring corn and green bean casseroles, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, turkey and stuffing in ridiculous quantities. Second, there was the friendship. It was great to see new volunteers talking with students and sharing the things they are thankful for. One of our friends from The Point, Pastor Thomas Wong, shared his testimony of how he had found freedom from resentment through his faith in Christ. Finally, there was fruit. One student, “Claire,” was especially moved by Thomas’s testimony and spoke to him for about 30 minutes after he spoke. Through tears, she expressed that she longs for the same freedom he has. Later, she gave her life to Christ and began walking as His child. We give thanks to God for the spiritual fruit He is bringing as we disciple the nations He has brought to us.
