International Women’s Connection

There are many international women in Colorado Springs who are wives of foreign students, military husbands and American men. Some of these women live here for a short while, some for life. Their husbands might be busy with school or work, so the wives might very well find themselves alone, not knowing any other women. Plus, a number of international ladies do not have a driver's license or transportation by which to go places.

Such situations can cause one to be extremely lonely. This is where the International Women’s Connection comes in. The IWC offers a regular place where these ladies can come to make friends with American and international women and to receive various kinds of help when needed such as improving one’s language skills, or finding a good doctor. IWC is a gathering of international wives, organized by Christian American wives, who have a fun time getting to know each other as they participate in activities that are of interest to all women.

The events include monthly group gatherings, several Conversational English classes located in various parts of the city (see “English Skills”), cooking classes, a Bible study, and occasionally special activities.

The International Women’s Connection meets in Room 114 at the Woodmen Valley Chapel. Here are the directions to that church:

Address:

Woodmen Valley Chapel

290 E. Woodmen Road

Colorado Springs, CO 80919.

For a map, go to http://www.mapquest.com

DIRECTIONS:

·   Go north on I-25 to Woodmen Road, and take exit #149 (Woodmen).

·   At the stoplight just off the freeway, turn left or west (toward the mountains).

·   After around a third of a mile you will go over a bridge. At the next stoplight following the bridge, turn right. Even though you have turned right you will actually still be on Woodmen Road (if you had gone straight at the light, it would have been Rockrimmon).

·   Go a short block and turn right at Chapel Lane.

·   Turn left at the first street. This street leads to the Woodmen Valley Chapel parking lot. Go through the doors on the ground floor and look for someone to ask to find out where the International Women’s Connection is meeting.

For more information concerning the International Women’s Connection, such as the times of their meetings, please contact Connie Trautman (phone: 282-2899, email: ctrautman425@msn.com).

All IWC activities are free of charge.
